The 9-Piece Essential Configuration
This set is strategically curated to provide the necessary leverage for both routine and complex extractions:
1. The Flohr Trio (Straight, Left, Right)
- Design: Feature slender, leaf-shaped tips.
- Clinical Use: Perfect for the initial luxation of posterior teeth. The angled Left and Right versions allow for easy access to difficult-to-reach molar roots.
2. Coupland No. 1
- Design: A robust, gouge-style tip with a sharp working edge.
- Clinical Use: The “standard” for expanding the alveolar socket. Its strength makes it ideal for wedging between the root and the bone to create the initial space for extraction.
3. London Hospital Pattern Colman (5mm)
- Design: A broad, high-leverage elevator with a 5mm working tip.
- Clinical Use: Specifically designed for large mandibular molars where high torque is required to displace the tooth from the socket.
4. Cryer Elevators (Left & Right)
- Design: Iconic triangular/sharp-pointed blades.
- Clinical Use: Essential for removing fractured molar roots. The pointed tip is designed to engage the furcation or to be used in an empty adjacent socket to “pivot” a remaining root out.
5. Cross Bar Elevators (Left & Right)
- Design: Feature a T-shaped handle configuration for maximum torque.
- Clinical Use: Used when extreme force is necessary to remove deeply seated roots or impacted teeth. The handle design allows the clinician to apply powerful rotational force with ease.
Advanced Performance Features
- Ultra-Lightweight Hollow Handle: Despite their robust appearance, the handles are hollow-core, making them significantly lighter than traditional solid elevators. This increases tactile sensitivity, allowing the clinician to feel the “give” of the periodontal ligament.
- Ergonomic Geometry: The handle diameter is optimized to distribute pressure evenly across the palm, preventing the localized “pressure spots” that lead to hand fatigue during long procedures.
- High-Quality Omani Steel: Manufactured with high-carbon stainless steel that maintains its sharp edges through repeated surgical use and autoclave cycles.
- Sand-Finish Pattern: The matte, sand-blasted texture provides a modern aesthetic while ensuring the instrument remains stable in the hand throughout the procedure.

Clinical Tip for Cross Bar Use
“Because the Cross Bar design generates significantly more torque than a standard handle, always ensure your fulcrum is stable on the alveolar bone, never on an adjacent tooth. Use a slow, controlled ‘twist and hold’ motion rather than a sudden jerk to avoid fracturing the buccal plate.”
